What's the difference between frosting and sandblasting in glassware?
Glass products are indispensable products in people's life. In the glass products industry, there are often some post-processing methods to make glass products more exquisite and attractive. Frosting and sandblasting are the types of post-processing.
Sanding and sandblasting are carried out on the glassware for misty treatment, so that the glassware has the characteristics of hazy, anti-skid, and so on, which is liked by consumers.
So what's the difference between frosted and sandblasting?
Frosting:
It refers to the process of changing the surface texture of ordinary glass from smooth to rough and from transparent to opaque by physical treatment. There are two kinds of frosting: one is to grind one or both sides of flat glass mechanically or manually with abrasives such as carborundum, silica sand, and pomegranate powder to make a uniform and rough surface, or hydrofluoric acid solution can be used to process the glass surface. the resulting product is frosting glass. Frosting glass has the advantage of light transmission and opacity.
Sandblasting:
Sandblasting refers to the jet formed by abrasives moving at high speed under the action of some external force. For dry sandblasting, the external force is compressed air, and for liquid sandblasting, the external force is the mixture of compressed air and grinding liquid pump. Using the high-speed airflow formed by high-pressure air through the small holes of the nozzle, blowing to the glass surface with fine quartz sand or carborundum, special sandblasting effects can be obtained, such as sandblasting lettering, frosting glass and so on.
Difference:
Frosting process is produced to shape the sense of sand, strong texture, but the pattern is limited. sandblasting -glass is in accordance with the first paper carved mold and then sprayed patterns so that any shape you want can be carved. But the particle size on the surface of frosting is more delicate than sandblasting. The two processes are completely different processes. The cost of frosting glass is higher than sandblasting glass, and the effect mainly depends on the needs of users. For seeking the high-end, we should choose frosting. The sandblasting process can be completed in most factories, and it is not easy for the frosting process to be done well. Frosting process requires higher technology.
