The method of glassware thermal-shock


   When you use glassware, such as glass tumbler to drink cool and hot water, will you think they are easily broken when suddenly pouring boil water in a glass cup,yes this is a usual phenomenon in daily life, as glassware does not conduct thermal energy,is easy cracked broken,or even shattered when you put the hot glass into ice water,or a cool glass cup taken out from refrigerator, and pouring the boil hot water.


Do you want to know how many temperature different for glassware can beer suddenly, here some simple method for you to test easily?

1. Prepare 8-10pcs glass tumblers, remove any dirt or loose debris from this glass;

2.fill the cool water bath with water,measure the temperature of the water,and mark as T1;

3.place the test sample separately in the hot water bath which has been previously heated to the upper temperature which mark T2, maintain the sample at this temperature for 40 min.


4. Remove the sample and immerse the sample without impact completely in the cool water bath for 30s, this procedure should within 5s.


5. Remove the sample from the cool water bath, inspect immediately each sample for chipping, cracking, crazing or breakage and determine the number of samples which have failed the test.

6.Repeat the test procedure with remaining test sample glass cups with increasing temperature different values,T1-T2,and the increase temperature T1 by 10 ℃ for t1-t2≦100 ℃

7. Take the record as below, if no breakage, then the test is pass.
